Book: “Pasifika Women: Our Stories in New Zealand” by Sandra Kailahi
Pasifika Women: Our Stories in New Zealand by Sandra Kailahi is a fantastic read. In this book Sandra Kailahi (Tongan Presenter and Journalist of 16 years in NZ), interviews and documents the stories and lives of 20 beautiful Pacific ‘angels’ who have made endless positive contributions to their various communities around New Zealand. Included in this book are politicians, artists, community leaders, health workers, sports women, writers and more.
This book is a great read and very inspiring for any Pacific Island person wanting to make a difference in this world. Sandra Kailahi has captured quite beautifully the essence of what drives these Pacific women in their roles in New Zealand society. She has given respect to the fruits and actions of these women’s works by recognising the roots of these women through acknowledging their parents, villages and country these women come from. Wonderfully crafted and rich in knowledge and wisdom, Sandra Kailahi’s book is a highly recommended read.
